The first tutorials for 3D diagrams using a mixture of free and non-free software are live now. I will also make alternate versions of these tutorials that use only free software soon.
Aligning and adjusting images using photoshop: Core scan example
1 About this approach
In this approach we use photoshop to align images and make image brightness, contrast and other adjustments. These instructions are written for photoshop CS6, but they should be applicable to other recent versions of Photoshop.
This approach has these advantages over aligning images in adobe illustrator or other vector package:
- Opportunity to automatically align images
- Ability to make image brightness, contrast and other adjustments live (and reversibly)
- Ability to make granular image adjustments (i.e. at the edges of aligned images to make them match better).

This tutorial covers plotting structural geology data in ArcGIS. In this tutorial I am going to use the example of plotting foliation data, but this is applicable to any data where a rotated symbol is required.

This tutorial covers adding XY data to ArcGIS, so that you can view and work with the data in ArcGIS. By XY data I mean point data such as foliation that has a spatial (XY) component associated with it.
