SPLiT-Seq Workshop

Are you thinking of using SPLiTseq or similar combinatorial techniques to do single-cell RNAseq? Please join us for a training session, led by Nathan Kenny and supported by Genetics Otago, Decode, and Parse Biosciences, in the Biochemistry Department. This course will take you through the theory of combinatorial indexing, how you can extract and analyse barcoded mRNA reads, and the basics of Seurat-centred workflows for interacting with your data. This workshop will be running on the afternoon of the 23rd and all day on the 24th of February and is suitable for both staff and students. The course is largely practical, so some command-line literacy is useful (although help will be provided), and a laptop will be needed to run the exercises “on the cloud”.

Parse Biosciences is also offering the chance to hear about their version of SPLiTseq, and Chris Wicky from Decode will join us at 3PM on the 24th to take us through the Parse kits and their computational pipeline. Parse is also offering the chance to apply for their Parse Core Grant programme – with a fixation and 100,000 cell kit up for grabs, along with training and technical support. If you would like to join for this but can’t make the entire training, registration here would be helpful for catering purposes.

Date: 23rd and 24th February 2023
Time: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm (23rd Jan) and 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (24th Jan)
Location: Seminar Room 231, Biochemistry Building

Equipment Needed: Laptop with the ability to use a terminal/putty (some basic instructions on this can be provided if necessary).
