This week the well-known rural journalist and writer Neal Wallace published an article about my study in Farmers Weekly magazine. Under the apt title ‘Land Chains’, the article nicely summarised where I am at with the project, and has already elicited an excellent response from rural people around the country.
As Neal stated, I am in the early stages of the project, and keen to hear from people with current and/or historic connections to farms in Hokianga or the Taieri. So, if you were part of a family that farmed land in these districts in the past, but have since sold the farm, I am still very much interested in hearing from you! The difficult decision to sell family land is of crucial importance in any discussion of rural inheritance.
