What is a Pooled Space?

Pooled teaching spaces are a collection of spaces managed centrally (by Property Services and Information Technology Services) and are available for centralised timetabling.

They are shared across the University. Classes and other events are allocated to these spaces by the Timetabling team in Student Experience in accordance with the Academic Timetabling Policy https://www.otago.ac.nz/administration/policies/otago046723.html and the Casual Bookings Policy https://www.otago.ac.nz/administration/policies/otago046693.html.

The spaces are supported by the AV Support team, and AV Support manages, upgrades and maintains the AV equipment in the space as well as the loose furniture. The other parts of the space are serviced by Property Services.

The AV Support team opens each pooled space in the morning and performs a brief equipment check to ensure it is ready to go for 8am teaching. We also endeavour to give the pooled rooms a thorough equipment check after bookings finish for the day, workload dependent.

If you experience an AV technical issue in a pooled space during a booking and you contact AV Support for immediate help, we aim to resolve the AV technical issue within 5 to 10 minutes.
