MSc and Honours Student Awards 2024 – Otago Medical School Research Society

The 272^nd Scientific Meeting of OMSRS, which is the 2024 MSc/Hons meeting, was held on November 6^th at the Barnett Lecture Theatre from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. This year, ten shortlisted students presented.

The meeting was convened by Professor Shyamal Das, President of OMSRS, and the judges for the presentations were Dr. Adam Middleton, Dr. Benedict Seo, Professor Gisela Sole, and Dr. Jack Dummer.

The winner was Chloe Schwass from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology (CM Schwass, GS Stuart, AM Bunning, G Watson, G Sawyer, LM Wise Immunomodulatory effects of a native New Zealand tree fern polysaccharide on macrophages). She received a certificate and $500 in prize money.

The runner-up was Stephanie Ung from the Department of Oral Rehabilitation (S Ung, A Senthilkumar, W Jansen van Vuuren, V Bennani. A modified tooth preparation design influences the marginal and internal fit of 3D-printed onlays). She received a certificate and $250 in prize money.

Professor Suetonia Green, Dean of Dunedin School of Medicine attended as the Chief Guest. She appreciated the high standard of presentations and handed over the awards.
