Sarah’s undergraduate studies were in history and nursing. Clinical experience in rehabilitation and mental health, followed by public health and health services research training have contributed to her research interests in peoples’ quality of life, health and disability outcomes, prioritisation and equity.
Sarah joined the IPRU in September 2005 having returned to New Zealand from Keele University in England where she undertook research investigating the health service experiences and outcomes of people with complex and chronic health conditions. She is a senior research fellow and coordinates a programme of research looking at injury-related disability at the IPRU. She is principal investigator on a prospective study of injury outcomes and disability, and co-investigator on studies with people with spinal cord impairment, musculoskeletal disorders and chronic illnesses.
