Informational Webinars: Expeditions 372 and 375

The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) is currently accepting applications for two expeditions aboard the JOIDES Resolution. Opportunities exist for researchers (including graduate students) in all specialties – including but not limited to sedimentologists, structural geologists, paleontologists, biostratigraphers, petrologists, paleomagnetists, petrophysicists, borehole geophysicists, microbiologists, and inorganic/organic geochemists. To learn more about the scientific objectives of these expeditions, life at sea, and how to apply to sail, please join us for these web-based seminars.

To participate in a webinar, you need access to the Internet and a computer with a microphone and speaker capability or a telephone. To register, click on the link for a particular expedition listed below. After registering, you will receive an email response with instructions on how to join the webinar.

Expedition 372 Creeping Gas Hydrate Slides and Hikurangi LWD
Expedition 372 objectives are: (1) to investigate the relationship between gas hydrate and underwater landslides; and (2) to characterize sediment and fault zone structures and physical properties associated with recurring shallow slow slip events along the Hikurangi subduction interface.

Expedition 375 Hikurangi Subduction Margin
Expedition 375 will investigate slow slip events (SSE) along the northern Hikurangi subduction margin.
