The School of Biomedical Sciences undertakes a broad range of world-class research, from agriculture to medicine. Our School is made up of leading-edge researchers working on a huge variety of topics from cancer, human and animal health, immunology, virology, and neuroendocrinology, through to plant biotechnology. We provide high-quality teaching and an innovative research environment for over 2,500 University of Otago students!

Our Academic staff receive significant amounts of funding through successful grant applications, and students are involved in these research projects. The School also prides itself on providing a world-class teaching environment, giving students both theoretical and practical skills to succeed in their chosen field. With a substantial number of international students and staff, BMS is truly part of a global international research and teaching community.
