His PhD, &#8220;Exploring learner-centredness for adults learning te reo M\u0101ori: easing the path to language acquisition&#8221; combines his interests in education and M\u0101ori-language learning.<\/p>\n<p>John was supervised by Prof. Poia Rewi and Assoc Prof. Lachy Paterson, and by Dr Matiu R\u0101tima in the early stages of his study.\u00a0 Submitting the hard bound copies is the final act in the PhD journey &#8211; with the exception of his graduation in May.\u00a0 Koia kei a koe, e Hone!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John Birnie submitted the &#8220;hard copies&#8221; of his PhD\u00a0thesis today at the Graduate Research School.
