{"id":1430,"date":"2023-03-07T08:51:38","date_gmt":"2023-03-06T19:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/tetumuresearch\/?p=1430"},"modified":"2023-03-07T17:27:11","modified_gmt":"2023-03-07T04:27:11","slug":"tikaka-in-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/tetumuresearch\/tikaka-in-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Tikaka in action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>T\u0113n\u0101 r\u0101 koutou, Ni sa bula vinaka, M\u0101l\u014d e lelei, Talofa lava, Kia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday 24 February Te Tumu welcomed two new staff members, <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Professor Patrick Vakaoti<\/strong><\/span> who is our new Dean and member of the Pacific Islands Studies team, and <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Dr Wahineata Smith<\/span><\/strong>, who is joining our M\u0101ori Studies team. \u00a0A <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>p\u014dwhiri<\/strong><\/span> was held at Te Tumu following the tikaka o K\u0101i Tahu, the mana whenua. \u00a0We are lucky to have Kare Tipa as one of our staff members who can guide us through the kawa.
