What Network Am I Connected To?

The University of Otago offers a number of wireless networks it is possible to connect to. This guide will show you how to find out what network you are connected to, no matter the device.

If you are course enrolled you should be on the UO_WIFI network. If not click here for a guide on how to connect.

To find what network you are connected to on a windows computer follow the following steps:
  1. Click on the Wifi icon in the bottom right hand corner.
  2. Locate the network that says "Connected, secured".
  3. This is the network you are currently connected to.
To find what network you are connected to on a Apple computer follow the following steps:
  1. Click the Wifi icon in the top right of the menu bar.
  2. Look for the network that has a tick next to it. This is the network you are connected to.

To find what network you are connected to on your Android phone follow these steps:
  1. Go to settings.
  2. Click on connections (or similar option).
  3. Find the Wifi option. This should reveal what network you are connected to.
To find what network you are connected to on your iPhone or iPad, follow the steps below:
  1. Open the Settings app
  2. If connected, the name of the network will be displayed next to the Wi-Fi heading
