How to Install Office 365 on your Laptop or Computer

To install Office on your own Mac or Windows computer, follow the instructions below.

  1. Log in to your StudentMail at otago.ac.nz/studentmail
  2. Click on Office 365 in the top left-hand corner
    • Ensure that your browser window is expanded or in full screen mode or the Office 365 button will not be visible!
  3. Click Install Office 2016 to install the latest Office 365
    • If you need to install an older version of the software (not recommended for most users) click Other installs and select the version required
  4. Follow the prompts to save and install the software
  5. Activate your Office 365 by signing in with your student email address (e.g. bonja007@student.otago.ac.nz) and password
