She joined the University of Otago in 2008 after five years with Te R\u016bnanga o Ng\u0101i Tahu as education\/senior manager and project consultant. Prior to that she had been in the teaching profession.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ruckstuhl leads the Vision M\u0101tauranga research team for Science for Technological Innovation and is a member of the Challenge Management team. She is an AI on both a primary production project through Our Land and Water National Science Challenge and on a Ng\u0101 Pae o Te Maramatanga project led out of the Management Department. Her research focuses on innovation and M\u0101ori business, resource extraction (mining and oil and gas), M\u0101ori language, and theories of corporate social responsibility (social licence). All of her research is related to understanding M\u0101ori values and knowledge and how these are shaping NZ policy, M\u0101ori business and society. This involves considering theories of social change given M\u0101ori are minorities within a liberal democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ruckstuhl has many governance, research and leadership roles for Ng\u0101i Tahu at the tribal and local levels, and has been consulted on or involved in a number of regional economic, social and environmental development projects.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ruckstuhl completed her Honours degree and Ph.D. through the English Department at Otago.
