They have lots of useful tips and hints for you to employ when doing your research<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.uwgb.edu\/bias\">Identifying Bias<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>No post on bias, agenda and opinion should be without specific mention of what\u2019s known as \u2018Cognitive Bias\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/ouassa\/files\/2024\/03\/bias-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2786\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/ouassa\/files\/2024\/03\/bias-1-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"191\" height=\"117\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the words of famous physicist Richard Feynman<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The first principle is that you must not fool yourself \u2013 and you are the easiest person to fool.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/ouassa\/files\/2024\/03\/feynman_360x450.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2793\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/ouassa\/files\/2024\/03\/feynman_360x450-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>(As well as being a theoretical physicist Feynman was known for his engaging and entertaining lectures and he had a unique ability to communicate complex scientific ideas to a general audience making him one of the most popular and beloved science communicators of his time.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <strong>So, what is \u2018Cognitive Bias\u2019?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Psychologist Kia-Rai Prewitt, PhD, describes it thus<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/ouassa\/files\/2024\/03\/Dr.-Kai-Rai-Prewitt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2795\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/ouassa\/files\/2024\/03\/Dr.-Kai-Rai-Prewitt-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>\u201cIf we have a cognitive bias, we may interpret information based off of our own beliefs and experiences.
