Many of you are also trying hard to use the\u00a0PQP approach and you will soon begin to see that this method of structuring answers is a useful tool to master, not just in\u00a0Knowledge Forum. Remember that when proposing something that builds on the post you should provide evidence that supports your proposition. This can be a link supporting information, a news item, magazine article, video clip or another post.<\/p>\n<p>To date you have been building knowledge on 3 global problems. Shortly we will move our focus closer to home \u2013 to your Project subjects. First, however we would like you to pull together what you have learned in each of these global views by posting a`Synthesis View\u2019 as outlined below:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">`My \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Synthesis\u2019 of Global Problem View Discussions 2013<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Task: <\/strong>You are <strong>each<\/strong> to make to a <strong>New Note (<\/strong>titled\u00a0<strong>`My Synthesis\u2019<\/strong>) that pulls together the knowledge you have gained from our knowledge building community discussion on <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">at least one<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0the three Global Problem Views:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Climate Change: Let the Science Speak!<\/li>\n<li>21<sup>st<\/sup> Century Energy &amp; Food Demands<\/li>\n<li>Global Wealth &amp; 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have added a new set of scaffolds entitled <strong>\u2018My Synthesis\u2019<\/strong> to help you do this. Use some or all these scaffolds to help you.<\/p>\n<p>In your synthesis we\u2019d like you to outline:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>What you have learned from these discussions<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Highlight the most important\u00a0idea(s) developed in this community <\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>How the knowledge building discussion has impacted on your understanding of\u00a0the topic of study.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Post your synthesis as a <strong>New Note<\/strong> titled <strong>`My Synthesis\u2019 <\/strong>within the relevant <strong>`View\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This task should take you no more than 30 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Date Due:\u00a0 March 10<sup>th<\/sup> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Every `synthesis\u2019 posted goes in draw for 1 of 5 I-Tunes\/Warehouse vouchers!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">1. Time frame<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Global Views Synthesis: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">25<sup>th<\/sup> February \u201310<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>New Project A Views: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">March 11<sup>th<\/sup> to April 19<sup>th<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Project A Views Synthesis:\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">April 20<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 May 5<sup>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The three Global views will remain open for the rest of the year so feel free to contribute any good ideas, resources, thoughts at any time. However, from March 11<sup>th<\/sup> we would like you to focus primarily on your\u00a0Project A views (Maths, Physics, Geography or Zoology).\u00a0 We will shortly post a starting view for each of these project groups with the help of your project leaders. These you will\u00a0individually be building on, the same way as you have been doing with the Global problem views. You are free to contribute to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">any <\/span>of the project views. You will then have two weeks to\u00a0you\u00a0synthesize and consolidate the ideas and knowledge you have taken from community\u2019s contributions.<\/p>\n<p>We will then move onto your Project B group (Biochemistry\/Genetics, Chemistry, Computer Science\u00a0or Marine Science) and repeat the exercise with four views on these projects. The synthesis and consolidation phase for these projects will take place in the lead up to the Winter Science camp in July.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2.\u00a0 Commitment\/expectations<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As outlined in the January camp as part of\u00a0OUASSA 2013 we expect you to be contributing to\u00a0Knowledge Forum on a weekly to fortnightly basis. At least one post per week would be brilliant! Emily and I check Knowledge Forum very regularly and read your posts. Occaisionally we will post ourselves. However, our role is to guide the discussion and sometimes present useful links &#8211; not to provide `answers.
