{"id":1085,"date":"2026-02-25T11:08:23","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T22:08:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/keithgordon\/?p=1085"},"modified":"2026-02-25T11:08:23","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T22:08:23","slug":"congratulations-khansa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/keithgordon\/congratulations-khansa\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations Khansa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Khansa&#8217;s paper on organic solar cells has finally come out.\u00a0 Khansa was able to show by\u00a0 resonance Raman spectroscopy and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) that PM6 undergoes substantial photo-oxidation\u2014speci\ufb01cally sulfur oxidation\u2014resulting in energy level shifts, the formation of trap states, and molecular aggregation.\u00a0 Thus degraded cell perfomance.\u00a0 She was also able to compare rates of degradation showing that Raman signals associated with the conjugated backbone decrease more rapidly in PM6 than in PM6-Br, indicating more extensive structural degradation.\u00a0 The elucidation of these mechanisms provides possible solutions to make more durable organic solar cells.<\/p>\n<p>The paper can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1002\/adfm.202518984\">Cho, H.
