New publication out in ACS Inorganic Chemistry
Congratulations to Dr Joshua Sutton on the publication of some work on electronic donor-acceptor systems. Josh’s paper in Inorganic Chemistry (https://dx.doi.org/10.1021/acs.inorgchem.0c02555) gives insight into how excited nature can change with systematic alteration of substituents. Josh found effectively a phase change in the types of excited state created. This fundamentally alters the chemistry those compounds can provide in light driven applications such as solar harvesting, photocatalysis and bioimaging. The compounds were made by Nigel Lucas’s team and the spectroscopy and computational analyses done in the Gordon group.
