\"\"<\/a>Genetics Otago (M\u0101tai Ira \u014ct\u0101kou) is a University of Otago Research Centre formed in 2009 to unite its wide-ranging genetics expertise into New Zealand\u2019s primary genetics research centre. We support over 350 members researching and studying genetics-related disciplines at the University of Otago, and we engage with the public about genetics’ contributions and impacts in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The University of Otago is an unrivalled genetics research location. Our expertise reaches across science, health, technology and law, our infrastructure enables world-class research, and our unique and rich natural surrounds inspire novel research and insights. Otago\u2019s genetics research drives innovation across New Zealand\u2019s agricultural, conservation and medical sectors. It also deepens our understanding of our origins, our humanity and our natural world.<\/p>\n

Genetics academics and postgraduate students in or affiliated with the University of Otago can join Genetics Otago. As a member of one of Australasia’s largest genetics communities, you can stay up to date with what your peers are researching, access development opportunities, find collaborators, connect with other sectors, and engage the public about your research.<\/p>\n

Mission Statement<\/span><\/h1>\n

Genetics Otago (GO) is a group of multidisciplinary researchers who use genetics as a common tool in understanding aspects of biology and society.\u00a0 Our vision is to become the pre-eminent centre in Australasia supporting novel genetic solutions in health, agriculture and the environment.<\/p>\n

GO seeks to keep our geneticists at the cutting edge of their research by providing a collaborative environment; improving access to the latest technologies; and, in collaboration with the Genetics Teaching Programme<\/a>, by attracting top quality, postgraduate students.<\/p>\n

GO also aims to connect with the public, media and policymakers to improve the understanding of genetics, as well as providing a resource of user-friendly information, teaching resources and commentary from world-class geneticists.<\/p>\n

As a University of Otago Research Centre, our mission is to invest in our staff and students to improve skills, foster internal and external collaboration, and improve our international reputation.<\/p>\n
