Hi all. A reminder about Friday\u2019s meeting (10am, Staff Club) to discuss Otago Core Analysis and Handling facilities:<\/p>\n
Two topics to cover \u2013 facilities requirements and database requirements. Your input at this meeting will define what we end up with for the next few years so its very important you think about your requirements in advance.<\/p>\n
Facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n We\u2019ll outline our preliminary thoughts on how to assemble the facility but we can\u2019t finalise that until we know the scope of what folks want to use it for, so we\u2019ll be seeking the following information from you at the meeting:<\/p>\n 1. What are the future requirements for core storage? How much material, how much work to be done on it? Core diameter? Lengths?<\/p>\n 2. Do you have any transitional facility requirements?<\/p>\n 3. What facilities are required to work on core? What types of measurements do you want to make? How much space, how often and how much time will you need to make the measurements?<\/p>\n 4. What services would you require in the containers? Power (phase?), light, heat, stable temperature?<\/p>\n 5. How portable do you need these facilities to be? Where will we deploy them?<\/p>\n At this stage we have 3 refrigerated containers available for core storage though some work is required to add shelving and these are already partly full. Indicative costs for fitted out containers are:<\/p>\n Lab Container = $25k (air conditioned, stable temp, power, lighting, benches, shelves, internal door)<\/p>\n Core storage container = $20k (refridgerated, shelving, lighting, internal door<\/p>\n Working container = $15k (power, lighting, internal door \u2013 no furniture)<\/p>\n Current budget for containers = $70k<\/p>\n
