{"id":2059,"date":"2019-04-24T13:56:04","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T01:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/crocc\/?p=2059"},"modified":"2019-04-24T13:56:04","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T01:56:04","slug":"pacific-futures-book-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.otago.ac.nz\/crocc\/pacific-futures-book-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Pacific Futures book launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 12 &amp;13, Centre member Professor Barbara Brookes attended a workshop at Harvard University entitled &#8216;<span class=\"\" lang=\"EN-GB\">Postcolonial Tensions: Science, History and Indigenous Knowledges&#8217;<span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><i class=\"\">\u00a0<\/i>where\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the volume\u00a0<i class=\"\">Pacific Futures: Past and Present<\/i>\u00a0(University of Hawaii Press, 2018) was officially launched by Professor Philip Deloria. The book resulted from a symposium held at the Hocken Library in June 2014 jointly sponsored by CRoCC and Professor Warwick Anderson\u2019s\u00a0<span class=\"\">Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship program on \u2018southern racial conceptions\u2019.\u00a0<\/span>Professor Anderson, currently\u00a0<span class=\"\">Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser Chair of Australian Studies (2018-19) at<\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif\"><span class=\"\">\u00a0Harvard University, co-convened the \u00a0workshop with Professor Gabriela Soto Laveaga in the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\">History<\/span><span class=\"\">\u00a0of Science\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\">Department.
