This conference addresses the history of objects relating to the colonial past of New Zealand and its neighbours up to 1940. Most publications on the histories of objects to date have focused on institutional collections. This conference seeks to broaden the scope of investigation and the kinds of inquiry that might illuminate the pasts of a more diverse range of objects as produced, circulated or otherwise inflected by colonial settings, and in the context of the intersection of cultures.
