Our key research goals are:

Advancing Regional Knowledge Accessibility

This goal focuses on identifying, curating, promoting, and distributing open access research publications in the Ōtākou/Murihiku or Otago/Southland region. Aligned with Otago’s commitment to inclusivity and Vision 2040, it acknowledges Māori perspectives and supports collaboration for accessible research findings.

Cultivating Sustainable Relationships with Iwi Farms and Food Businesses

Facilitating engagement with iwi farms and food businesses, this goal strongly aligns with Otago’s Sustainability Strategic Framework and Māori values. The participation of key agribusiness representation will contribute to sustainable practices leadership, supporting Māori leadership in agribusiness.

Integrating Otago Ag and Environmental Research with Policy

This goal aligns with the Māori and Sustainability Strategic Frameworks, engaging Otago’s expertise in ag and environmental research with government policies. Responding to public consultations showcases Otago’s commitment to inclusive decision-making, emphasizing its dedication through the appointment of a project manager.
